A man opened up about what life is like without a penis – after getting the majority of his member removed after falling victim to a tragic accident.
In a candid Reddit thread, the anonymous 33-year-old explained: “It was a motorcycle accident. Got hit by a pickup truck. The bike got ruined and something sharp jammed on my tight and split my wiener.
“Doctors did a reconstruction but it got infected a week later and the whole thing had to be amputated, I nearly died from it. I can get one constructed but I’m terrified from the infection and can’t got through with it yet.

“Mentally, the first year was awful and I have spent so much time with my shrink. I felt I was no longer a man and didn’t want to stay married and felt I could never look at my wife again.
“The sexual desire was and is there but I have tried a lot to suppress it, especially in the beginning because well you know why. I still get depressed about it but I have learned to cope for the most part.”
As many are curious about the road incident, which happened four years ago, they took to the forum to ask questions. And one particular query kept cropping up.
People wanted to know if it was possible for the man to still become sexually aroused and partake in intimacy with his partner. The Redditor revealed it’s something he’s asked often – and was happy to divulge more information.
Thankfully, he is still able to enjoy a sex life. While his anatomy works in a slightly different way, he is still able to get intimate and ejaculate. He noted that he doesn’t ‘erupt’ in the same way though, and “oozes out” instead.
Another adjustment the man had to get to grips with was “phantom” feelings in his nether regions. He would often forget that his appendage was no longer there, which could lead to awkward situations when he ‘went to grab it’. The Redditor confessed: “These were dark days.”
Following the brutally honest account of how his life has changed, people took to Reddit to offer their words of support. One said: “I wanna say you’re a f****** DAWG. Reading your first year feelings and how you’re doing NOW plus all the other ways you have had to adjust and I admire the s*** out of you.”
And another shared their own experience, revealing: “As someone who has had RFF phalloplasty (penis reconstruction) I just want to say that medically things have come so far. When you are ready and if you are ever interested, the success rates are very good now. They harvested nerves from my forearm to connect to mine nerves in my groin and with a bit of nerve therapy and mind work I can honestly say I’m shocked at how much and how good the sensation is in my new penis!”
