A British boyband star has hinted at a major career change.

The Vamps bassist and singer Connor Ball is no stranger to throwing himself into various projects, having appeared on ITV’s Dancing On Ice but it appears that he’s got another show on his mind. The 28-year-old Scottsman recently took to social media while taking a break from touring with his bandmates and his comment could leave some fans expecting to see him back on screens very soon.

Connor, who is preparing for The Vamps’ upcoming Meet The Vamps Anniversary Tour shared a clip on Instagram of himself practising bouldering as he showcased his impressive skills, without a harness. In view of his 769,000 followers on the photo and video-sharing site, the musician was seen attempting to reach the top of the bouldering wall, narrowly missing out on the top spot.

The competition which has been branded the “toughest course on TV” first aired between 2015 and 2019. However, it returned in September 2022 under the name Ninja Warrior UK: Race for Glory, which sees competitors go head to head.

Connor appeared on Dancing On Ice alongside professional skater Alexandra Schauman with the pair finishing in fourth place as they became the ninth couple to be eliminated. Despite Connor’s hesitation, they continued to impress the judges each week, with their highest score being 38.

Despite The Vamps taking a hiatus from working together, the group recently confirmed to fans that they would be back as they celebrate the tenth anniversary of their debut album, Meet The Vamps. The band consisting of Connor, Bradley Simpson, 29, Tristan Evans, 30 and James Brittain-McVey, 31, will be embarking on a mammoth tour of the country to celebrate.

But while some speculated that the band had split, Brittain-McVey revealed to the Mirror that this was far from the case. He told me: “We were in the studio in the summer, we’re going to be doing some more stuff, we just need to get some vocals done. There’s no thought process in any of our heads where we’re like ‘Oh let’s leave and pursue the solo stuff’. It’s been three years since the last Vamps album – three years for other bands is not that long but I feel like The Vamps have done so many albums in such short succession that people kind of presume something is wrong.”
